I worked at Yelp for years helping business owners (local and national franchises) advertise their business on Yelp.

Yelp is very different from social media sites like Facebook and Instagram because it is a local directory. People use it when they are ready to spend money.

When you search Instagram for food - you get amazing pictures of food. When you search Yelp for food, you get a local restaurants where you can spend money at NOW. 

You ask a Facebook group to recommend a plumber or contractor, getting a list of a few good names. Now you have to do more research on those names. On Yelp, those customers are further along the sales process because after they can see what people say about a business and call them or request a quote immediately.

I have personally worked with thousands of business owners to make them money while using Yelp. I won the New Yorker That Never Sleeps award at Yelp as recognition for my work.
